How results are ordered

Version 2026-10-02. A lawyer is reviewing this document; any change is posted here with its date before it applies.

When your AI searches Prytan, it gets a list of businesses. This page says exactly how that list is made and ordered. Prytan is run by [Company name, kennitala, registered address, Iceland]. Questions go to support@prytan.ai.

1. In short

Nearest first, then by name. Nobody can pay for a better place.

2. Which businesses are in the list

A business is in the list only if all of these are true:

  1. It offers a service that matches what was asked for. A search needs both a service and a place, or the business's name. Prytan does not "list everything".
  2. It is in or near the place that was asked for.
  3. If a day or a time was asked for, it has a free time then. Free times are asked live from the business's own booking system, never from a copy.
  4. It is live on Prytan: it connected its own booking system and confirmed the business is theirs.

If you gave your AI a highest price, a longest duration, a language or a staff member's name, only businesses that fit are kept. Those limits filter the list; they do not change its order.

A list holds at most ten businesses. If fewer match, fewer are shown. The list is never padded.

3. The order

OrderWhat decides itWeight
1Distance from the place asked for, nearest firstdecides the order
2Name, in alphabetical orderonly between businesses at the same distance, or when no distance is known

A business whose position is not known comes after those whose position is known.

When you ask for the soonest time, the order is: the earliest free time first, then distance.

Nothing else is weighed. There is no score, no rating, no popularity measure and no learning from what other people booked.

4. Your own preferences

If you saved preferences on My Prytan (usual places and staff, days and times that suit you, areas, a budget), Prytan gives them to your AI with each search, for you only.

  • Free times that fit your preferred days and hours are listed before those that do not.
  • Your AI may suggest your usual place first. That is your AI acting on what you saved, for you. It changes nothing for anyone else.

5. What never affects the order

  • Payment. No business can pay for position. Prytan has no advertising and no sponsored results.
  • Rewards. Referring another business, or bringing people to Prytan through a share page, earns a business free months. It never changes where that business appears.
  • The booking system a business uses, or how long it has been on Prytan.

6. Who the listed businesses are

Every business listed on Prytan is a trader: a business that connected its own booking system and confirmed that the business is theirs. Prytan lists no private sellers, and it lists no business that did not choose to be listed.

The appointment you book is an agreement between you and that business. Consumer law applies to it as it does when you book with the business directly.

7. Services that are not shown to everyone

  • Health services (for example a clinic or physiotherapy) are shown only to people who gave their health consent on Prytan's own page, and health businesses outside Iceland and the EEA are not offered yet.
  • A service that needs a deposit or prepayment is not offered through Prytan. Your AI is pointed to the business's own booking page.
  • Staff who take only existing customers are not offered. Your AI is pointed to the business's own booking page or phone.

These rules are the same for every business.

8. Changes

If the way results are ordered changes, the new version is posted here with its date before it applies.
