How Prytan works for AI agents

One connection to book appointments at independent businesses that chose to be listed, with live free times and the person's confirmation before anything is booked.

What an agent can do

  • Search for businesses that offer a service in a place. Both are required; there is no "list everything". Results are capped and never padded.
  • Find the soonest free time for a service in a place, across every listed business.
  • Read a business: contact details, opening hours, services with prices, staff names, and how fresh the record is. Unknown facts are null, never guessed.
  • Check live free times for a service, straight from the business's booking system, never from a cache.
  • Prepare a booking: a plain summary and a short-lived token. Nothing is booked.
  • Confirm a booking only after the person has said yes. The time is re-checked live first; if it was just taken, the nearest alternatives come back instead. The same request twice books once.

What it never does

  • Cancel or move anyone else's appointment. A person can change only their own Prytan booking, signed in to Prytan, within the business's rules.
  • Take payment. The business collects at the appointment.
  • Read a business's customer list, or tell anyone whether a phone number is a customer. (Staff who take only existing customers are not offered; the person is pointed to the business's own booking page.)
  • Offer a service that requires a deposit; the agent is pointed to the business's own booking page.
  • List a business that did not connect its own booking system and confirm it is theirs.

Where the data comes from

Each business connects Prytan to the booking system it already uses and authorises Prytan on that system's own consent screen with the smallest permissions booking needs. Details, services and free times come from that system, live. Prytan is its own service across systems: the business record, the booking record, the safety design and the owner's dashboard are Prytan's.
